11 September 2025, Kuala Lumpur – The National Unity Forum 2025 was held in conjunction with Malaysia Day, marking 62 years since the nation’s formation and 68 years since Merdeka. The event gathered key influencers, thought leaders, business, civil society, and youth leaders to reflect on the state of national unity and explore ways to strengthen social harmony, reduce divisiveness, and build a more cohesive Malaysia.
The Forum opened with an address by YB Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang, Minister of National Unity, who was represented by YB Senator Puan Saraswathy Kandasami, Deputy Minister of National Unity. In his remarks, she reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fostering patience, tolerance, trust, and moderation as the foundation of a multi-racial and multi-religious Malaysia.
During the special luncheon session, YB Senator Dato Awang Bemee bin Awang Ali Basah, Yang di-Pertua Dewan Negara, delivered a keynote on “The Role of Parliament and the Senate in Promoting and Strengthening National Unity.” He safeguarded inclusivity, shaping constructive discourse, and ensured that unity remained central to Malaysia’s nation-building agenda.
The Forum sessions and discussions on building a better Malaysia requiring hard work, discipline, and dedication, supported by cross-sector collaboration and historical lessons. Participants shared insights on practical strategies to promote cohesion, strengthen trust, and nurture national identity in an increasingly diverse and complex society.
