7 November 2025, Selangor - A total of 174 student volunteers, including 8 from Vietnam and 2 from Singapore, were officially flagged off for the MADANI Berkhidmat: YSS–ASEAN Students Volunteer Mission to Sarawak 2025.
The ceremony was officiated by The Honourable Dato’ Haslina binti Abdul Hamid, Secretary General of the Ministry of National Unity, who in her speech reminded volunteers to lead with heart, serve with purpose, and bring the spirit of unity wherever they go.
Also present were Mr. Mohamad Sobri bin Mat Daud, Deputy Secretary General (Policy and Strategic Development) of the Ministry of National Unity; The Honourable Tan Sri Dato’ Haji Alimuddin Md Dom, Chairman of Yayasan Sukarelawan Siswa; Dr. Wan Ahmad Hazman bin Wan Daud, Deputy Chairman II and Executive Director of Yayasan Sukarelawan Siswa; Mr. Wong Kin Lun, Chief Executive Officer of Yayasan Sukarelawan Siswa; and officers from the Ho Chi Minh Youth Union.
The volunteers will be deployed to nine locations across Sarawak, including Long Bedian (Miri), Kanowit (Sibu), Bukit Mabong (Kapit), Santubong (Kuching), and Asajaya (Samarahan).
Throughout the mission, they will carry out community-based projects such as infrastructure rehabilitation, school enhancement, health and safety programmes, and educational initiatives reflecting the true essence of “Unity Through Volunteerism.
